The Delhi High Court directed that a writ petition seeking multiple polling centres for the 2026 Bar Council of Delhi elections be treated as a representation before the Special Committee constituted under Section 8A of the Advocates Act, 1961.
The Court was dealing with concerns that a single polling venue may cause overcrowding and inconvenience for over 1,05,000 voters.
It noted that the Supreme Court has already framed directions requiring such election-related grievances to be placed before the Special Committee.
The Committee was asked to decide the representation within three weeks.
