Delhi HC Dismisses Time-Barred Contempt Pleas Under Section 20

The Delhi High Court dismissed contempt petitions filed by M/s Nimbit Buildcon Pvt Ltd against the Sehgal family, citing that the petitions were time-barred under Section 20 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971.

The dispute stemmed from a 2013 settlement agreement, which the petitioners claimed was violated in 2016. The court determined that the breach did not constitute a "continuing wrong," and since the petitions were filed in 2019, beyond the one-year limitation, they were not maintainable.

The court emphasized that contempt proceedings must be initiated within the prescribed time frame to uphold procedural integrity.
