Delhi HC Dismisses PIL Seeking AAP's De-Recognition Over Non-Disclosure of Criminal Records

The Delhi High Court dismissed a PIL seeking the de-recognition of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for alleged non-compliance with the Supreme Court's ruling on publishing criminal antecedents of candidates, including those linked to the alleged liquor scam.

The division bench clarified that contempt of the Supreme Court’s judgment falls under its jurisdiction.

The Court stated the Election Commission of India lacks legal authority to derecognize political parties.

The petitioner withdrew the PIL with liberty to approach the Supreme Court, as recorded by the Court.
