Delhi High Court Examines Plea to Transfer ANI’s Copyright & Trademark Suit Against Mohak Mangal

YouTuber Mohak Mangal has moved the Delhi High Court, seeking the transfer of ANI’s copyright and trademark infringement suit, filed in Patiala House Court, to the High Court.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani raised jurisdictional concerns, noting that under Section 15(5) of the Commercial Courts Act, transfer requests must be heard by a division bench, not a single judge. 

ANI contends that its High Court suit targets alleged defamatory video while the Patiala House suit addresses copyright and trademark issues.

Mangal’s counsel argues both suits involve the same marks, justifying a unified hearing. The Court listed the matter for July 16.
