On December 19, 2024, the Delhi High Court passed an ex-parte ad-interim injunction in favor of Saregama India, restraining Movie World Visual Media from exploiting its copyrighted works.
The dispute involves the infringement of sound recordings, literary and musical works from 88s films. Saregama claims to hold worldwide, perpetual rights to these works through agreements executed between 1965 and 1988.
The defendants allegedly used these works without authorization across websites, mobile apps and OTT platforms. The matter is also linked to a similar case in Ernakulam District Court, with hearings scheduled for February and May 2025.
