Delhi HC Imposes ₹5,000 Fine On a Litigant For Making 'Scandalous' Allegations Against a Judge

  • Case Name: Sarina vs Koshlinder Sharma

The Delhi High Court imposed costs of ₹5,000 on a litigant for seeking the transfer of a child custody case on "scandalous grounds" of bias against a judge.

This followed a family court granting limited visitation rights to the child's father, who was later acquitted of sexual assault allegations made by the mother.

After the acquittal, the family court suggested the father apply for temporary custody, which the mother claimed indicated bias.

Both the Principal Judge and the High Court dismissed her transfer petition, stating there was no merit in her claims and emphasising the importance of challenging orders through proper judicial channels.
