Delhi High Court Initiates Criminal Contempt Against Lawyer Over ₹50 Crore Corruption Allegations

The Delhi High Court has initiated criminal contempt proceedings against lawyer Vedant for calling the judiciary corrupt and alleging judges took ₹50 crore in bribes to delay justice.

The Court observed that his allegations were “reckless, contemptuous, contumacious and scandalous,” amounting to criminal contempt under Section 2(c) of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971.

Vedant had earlier tendered an apology in January 2024 but continued to make inflammatory claims, accusing judges and opposing counsel of collusion and using terms like “judicial terrorism” and “judicial conspiracy.”

The case, arising from a civil contempt petition, is listed for further hearing on November 19, 2025.
