Delhi HC Issues Orders for Urgent Legal & Medical Support for Minor Rape Victims Seeking Pregnancy Termination

The Delhi HC laid down guidelines for providing prompt legal guidance and medical support to minor rape victims who have to undergo medical termination of pregnancy.

The case involved a 15-year-old seeking termination of a pregnancy beyond 27 weeks. 

The Court instructed Child Welfare Committees to immediately inform the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee of urgent legal action whenever pregnancy exceeds 24 weeks and addressed delays in medical exams, directing the Medical Board to take prompt action.

The Court permitted the medical termination under the MTP Act, ensuring timely intervention for minor rape victims. (Minor S (Thr. Father B) vs. State & Anr)
