Delhi High Court: Judges Must Pronounce Reserved Orders Within 2–3 Weeks Post Transfer

The Delhi High Court has directed trial court judges to pronounce judgments in reserved cases within two to three weeks of their transfer. Emphasizing efficient judicial process, the Court stated that successor judges must not rehear such matters.

Outgoing judges are required to prepare a list of pending reserved judgments and submit it to the District Judge, who is responsible for ensuring compliance.

The ruling follows a plea challenging the delay in an appeal decision and highlights errors by both the transferred and successor judges in handling a reserved judgment post-transfer. [B.D. Sharma v. State Of NCT Of Delhi & Anr]
