Delhi High Court Directed DDA to Reconsider Janmashtami Event Plea at Janakpuri Park

  • Case Name: Sahil Viklang Sahaytartha Samiti v Delhi Development Authority

The Delhi High Court directed the DDA to reconsider a request to host Janmashtami Mahotsav celebrations at the District park/ DDA grounds in Janakpuri Delhi.

The court observed that its 2018 order restricting events at the park was modified in 2022 to permit Dusshera and Ramleela celebrations which further changed the park’s land use to multipurpose ground.

Earlier DDA had rejected the request, citing the 2018 order but did not dispute the updated position during the hearing.

The petitioner argued that the new order allows such events. The petition was disposed of by the court, which instructed the DDA to reevaluate the proposal to use the park grounds for Janmashtami festivities.
