The Delhi High Court directed the city government to immediately release pending subsidies under the 2020 Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, ruling that administrative delays cannot block benefits.
Hearing a PIL by Jan Seva Welfare Society, the Court noted that while ₹179 crore had been disbursed to over 78,000 buyers, subsidies worth over ₹48 crore remain unpaid, affecting thousands.
It ordered the transport department to open a dedicated bank account and clear dues promptly.
The 2020 policy provides incentives for two-wheelers, e-rickshaws, light EVs, and e-cycles, and has been extended until November 15, 2025, pending rollout of EV Policy 2.0.
