The Delhi High Court directed the Labour Court to reconsider the maintainability of the Airport Employees Union’s plea seeking pay parity for 183 contract workers engaged in baggage handling.
The Union sought wages equal to Air India’s regular loaders, while Air India contended that no employer-employee relationship existed and that the earlier parity condition was merely a licensing requirement, not an enforceable award.
Finding the Labour Court’s earlier reasoning inadequate, the High Court set aside its order and directed a fresh, reasoned determination on the maintainability of the claim.
