The Delhi High Court has directed police to take strict action against anyone disrupting the Shahdara Bar Association elections scheduled for May 9.
In response to a plea for online and offline voting, citing security issues, the Court rejected online voting and affirmed that elections would proceed in a physical mode with proper safeguards.
Police are instructed to verify lawyer-voters via proximity cards and monitor the premises with CCTV.
Only candidates and one representative each will be allowed inside the Karkardooma Court during counting. The court allowed EVMs to be sourced from Delhi University, and ballot boxes to be protected post-election to ensure fairness and transparency.
