Monty Chadha Moves to Delhi High Court Seeking Enforcement of his ‘Right to Be Forgotten’

Businessman Manpreet Singh Chadha alias Monty Chadha, son of late liquor baron Ponty Chadha, approached the Delhi High Court seeking enforcement of his “right to be forgotten” against multiple media outlets.

Chadha argued that despite his acquittal in a 2018 FIR alleging a ₹100 crore property fraud, several reports and videos about his arrest remain accessible, harming his reputation.

Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav asked his counsel to address two issues: the existence of an enforceable right to be forgotten and whether the suit is barred by limitation since the acquittal occurred in 2019.

Chadha has sought ₹2 crore in damages and the takedown of the reports.

The Court has not yet issued a summons.
