A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed before the Delhi High Court seeking to restrain the release of actor Paresh Rawal’s upcoming film “The Taj Story”, alleging that it contains historical distortions and risks inciting communal tension.
The plea was prompted by the film’s poster, which depicts a statue of Lord Shiva emerging from the dome of the Taj Mahal.
The petitioner contends that the film misrepresents established historical facts regarding the monument’s construction and could undermine public trust in academic research.
The plea further argues that the portrayal may trigger social disharmony and tarnish the global reputation of the Taj Mahal, a recognised UNESCO World Heritage Site.
