The Delhi High Court quashed an FIR against Mohd Tarique Rehman, a commercial pilot, after a live cartridge was found during baggage screening at IGI Airport in 2021.
The court ruled that Rehman was not in conscious possession of the ammunition, as it was unintentionally left in his bag. No firearm or unlawful intent was found, and no offence under the Arms Act was made out.
However, the court imposed a ₹25,000 cost, noting that the situation could have been avoided with greater care, while recognizing security agencies’ duty to investigate such incidents seriously.
