Delhi High Court Refuses Ex-Parte Injunction In Defamation Suit Over Tirupati Laddu Adulteration Reporting

The Delhi High Court refused interim relief to YSRCP leader Y. V. Subba Reddy in his defamation suit against media reports on the Tirupati laddu adulteration case.

The Court held that ex parte injunctions are to be granted only in exceptional situations and stressed that the defendants must be given an opportunity to place their defence on record.

Accordingly, summons were issued to the media houses, and the matter has been listed for further hearing on January 29, 2026.

The suit alleges defamatory statements regarding Reddy’s role in the procurement of ghee for Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, following the Supreme Court-monitored SIT probe into alleged adulteration.
