The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to Elon Musk's Tesla Inc., restraining an Indian company from using the "Tesla" name for its electric vehicles and related products.
The court found the Indian firm's attempt to register "Tesla" for EVs constituted trademark infringement, given Tesla's global recognition.
On the first day of hearing, Tesla Power India’s proprietor gave an undertaking that they would not manufacture EVs or market vehicles under ‘TESLA POWER USA’ or any deceptively similar brand.
Subsequently, the case was referred for mediation. However, the mediation failed, leading the Court to hear the case on merits. A detailed copy of the order is awaited.
