Delhi HC restrains rogue websites from streaming content owned by Unisys Group

  • Case Name: Unisys Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd. & Ors. v. Desicinemas.Tv & Ors.
  • Judge(s): Justice Amit Bansal
  • Advocate(s): Nikhil Chawla, Sauhard Alung

Unisys Infosolutions, a Haryana-based company, produces and distributes films and audiovisual content in Indian languages.

It operates the Punjabi OTT platform KableOne and YouTube channel Saga Hits. It accused 71 rogue websites of streaming pirated content without authorization, violating copyright laws.

The company argued that these websites' illegal activities caused irreparable harm and diminished copyright value.

The Court found the balance of convenience in Unisys' favor, noting the websites lacked authorization.

The Court restrained the websites from hosting or streaming Unisys content, directed Domain Name Registrars to lock and suspend them, and ordered Google to de-index them. The next hearing is on April 2, 2025.
