Delhi HC Restrains Unauthorized Use of Ratan Tata's Name, Image, & Tata Logo for Award Ceremony

  • Case Name: Sir Ratan Tata Trust & Tata Sons vs. Rajat Srivastava & Ors
  • Judge(s): Justice Mini Pushkarna

The Delhi High Court has restrained Rajat Srivastava and Yuci Mentors Pvt. Ltd. from using Ratan Tata’s name, image, and Tata logos for unauthorized award events, including the "Ratan Tata Icon Award."

The plaintiffs alleged trademark infringement, stating the defendants falsely claimed association with Tata Trusts despite a takedown notice in December 2024.

The plaintiffs sought permanent injunctions & damages of around ₹2 crore for the harm caused to their reputation and goodwill.

The Court is also considering whether 'Ratan Tata' qualifies as a well-known trademark.

The defendants agreed to cancel the awards, and the Court sought an undertaking from them.

A hearing is scheduled for February 12 to ensure compliance.
