Delhi HC Rules Films That Incite Hatred for Religion Must Not be Granted Certification in Secular Society

The Delhi High Court has ruled that any film that attacks a religion to incite hatred against it in a diverse society must not be granted certification.

It further ruled that film scenes that depict taking the law into one's own hands can damage faith in the legal system and can upset the public peace.

The observations came in the light of a plea filed by the Director of the film "Masoom Kaatil" in 2022, challenging the order of the Central Board of Film Certification to not allow its release.
