Delhi High Court Seeks Centre’s Response on Withdrawal of GST Concession for Disabled

The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the Central Government regarding its decision to withdraw GST concessions on the purchase of motor vehicles by persons with disabilities.

The petition, instituted by the All India Confederation of the Blind (AICB), assails a notification dated October 8, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, which rescinded the earlier benefit permitting differently-abled individuals to acquire vehicles at concessional GST rates.

The Bench expressed concern over the adverse implications of the policy change on the mobility, autonomy, and dignity of persons with disabilities.

The matter has been scheduled for further consideration on December 17.
