Delhi High Court Seeks Centre’s Response on Ensuring Disabled-Friendly Taxi Apps

The Delhi High Court directed the Union Government to file a response on the regulatory mechanism to ensure that taxi applications are disabled-friendly before launch.

The plea was filed by disability rights activists seeking directions to conduct an accessibility audit and resolve accessibility barriers. An audit of Rapido found 207 issues, with 81 being high-impact.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Road Transport And Highways was directed to file an affidavit to ensure compliance under Rule 15 of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017.

Rapido assured the court that issues would be addressed within 4 months. The matter will be heard on August 13.
