Delhi HC Seeks Delhi Police’s Response on AI Use for Tracing Missing Persons

The Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi Police to clarify if AI software can be used to trace missing persons, particularly those with unstable medical conditions.

Hearing a habeas corpus plea by a man searching for his father missing since February 17, 2023, the court directed the Delhi Police to file an affidavit on AI usage.

The Crime Branch reportedly possesses such software, and the court ordered an attempt to locate the missing person using available technology, with a further status report to be submitted.

The matter will now be heard on March 18.
