Delhi High Court Slams Civic Bodies Over Dirty Toilets, Seeks Action Plan for Public Toilet Maintenance

The Delhi High Court criticised MCD, DDA, and NDMC for their neglect in maintaining public toilets, calling it “complete apathy and insensitivity.”

The Court was hearing a PIL filed by Jan Sewa Welfare Society, highlighting poor hygiene, lack of water, electricity, and sanitation.

Photos submitted showed filthy toilets across Delhi. The Court reminded authorities of their legal duty under public welfare laws and directed them to create a proper sanitation plan based on expert study.

The court also ordered immediate repairs to unusable toilets and asked officials to take personal responsibility. The matter will be reviewed again after two months. (Jan Seva Welfare Society (Reg.) v. UOI and Ors)
