The Delhi High Court has stayed the Bar Council of India’s (BCI) directive for a CBI probe into the authenticity of Advocate Sanjeev Nasiar’s degree and his suspension as Vice Chairman of the Bar Council of Delhi.
Nasiar’s counsel argued that the degree was verified by the University and affirmed by the High Court, asserting that the BCI lacked authority to unilaterally order a CBI inquiry or suspend him without formal investigation.
Senior Advocate Kirtiman Singh, representing BCI, highlighted discrepancies in the degree’s issuance.
Granting interim relief to Nasiar, the Court listed the matter for further hearing on January 21, 2025.
