Delhi High Court to Hear Pleas Seeking SIT Probe Into Delhi Riots and Jamia Violence on January 23

The Delhi High Court listed for hearing on January 23 a batch of petitions seeking an SIT or independent investigation into the 2020 North East Delhi riots and the 2019 violence at Jamia Millia Islamia.

The Court noted that the matters were part-heard before a coordinate bench and ordered listing before the same bench for propriety.

The petitions seek FIRs against political leaders for alleged hate speeches, action against errant police officials, and independent probes into alleged police excesses.

The Court fixed the date for further arguments.
