The Supreme Court administration informed the Delhi High Court that it does not maintain records of complaints alleging corruption or improper conduct against a former Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
The submission was made during the hearing of an RTI petition challenging the denial of information sought from the Supreme Court registry.
The Court observed that a clear answer on whether any complaint was received was not forthcoming and directed the parties to file written submissions.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on April 1. The petitioner argued that the RTI query required only a “yes or no” response and involved public interest in judicial accountability.
