The Delhi High Court upheld Delhi University’s decision to compulsorily retire a professor accused of sexually harassing four women, including three students and an alumna, via Facebook and WhatsApp.
The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), under the POSH Act, found a prima facie case, which the professor challenged, arguing that social media is not a workplace.
The Court rejected his plea, citing the ongoing nature of harassment and the obscene messages submitted as evidence.
The court found no procedural flaw in the ICC’s constitution or procedure and said the professor had failed to seek proper legal remedies.
