Delhi High Court Upholds Conviction of Husband and Son for Setting Woman on Fire

The Delhi High Court upheld the conviction of a husband and his son for causing the death of a woman by burning, affirming a 2002 trial court judgment.

The Bench relied on two dying declarations made before a doctor and the investigating officer, in which the victim consistently stated that the accused poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

The Court held the declarations voluntary, reliable, and uninfluenced, noting no evidence of accidental or self-inflicted burns. Finding no inconsistencies warranting interference, the High Court confirmed the conviction and sentence imposed by the trial court.
