Delhi High Court Allows 22-Week Pregnant Woman to Terminate Pregnancy on Account of False Promise of Marriage

The Delhi High Court has allowed a woman to terminate her pregnancy which came as a result of sexual relations established on account of false promise of marriage.

The decision came in light of the contention that the pregnancy was unwanted and had caused significant mental and physical trauma to the woman. It was also established that it is the decision of the victim as to whether she wants to give birth to the child.

The case was filed by the woman when she was assaulted and abandoned by the man upon refusing to undergo another termination; the previous one being last year.
