Delhi High Court: CBSE Record Cannot Have Different Birth Date From Passport

The Delhi High Court has dismissed CBSE's appeal and upheld an earlier order directing the correction of a student’s date of birth in board records to match her passport and official birth certificate.

The Court observed that discrepancies between CBSE records and statutory documents like passports raise serious doubts about identity, affecting employment and immigration.

The Court emphasized that the CBSE cannot rigidly rely on its internal rules when they conflict with authentic documentation and fundamental rights.

The appeal was thus rejected, upholding the student's correction request. (CBSE v. Prema Evelyn D Cruz and Anr.)
