The Delhi High Court has directed the Railway Department to pay ₹8 lakh compensation to a man who lost his left leg due to grievous injuries sustained from falling off a moving train in 2015.
The incident occurred after a sudden jerk in an overcrowded general compartment, causing him to lose balance.
While the Railway Claims Tribunal had earlier denied compensation, citing negligence, the High Court found no evidence to support that claim.
Relying on the Appellant's monthly season ticket, the Court ruled in his favour, awarding compensation with 12% interest from the date of the accident.
