The Delhi High Court directed the Centre to decide within three months on the Assam Rifles’ demand for parity in pay and pension parity with the Indian Army.
The Court said the Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association may file a detailed representation highlighting disparities that arose after the Fourth Pay Commission, which removed the force from its earlier equal status with the Army.
The Court emphasized that the competent authority must consider the representation in accordance with the law.
The plea sought parity in pay, pension and service conditions for the paramilitary force, which remains under the administrative control of the MHA while operationally reporting to the Indian Army.
