The Delhi High Court has ordered the Delhi government to frame a clear policy for shifting stray dogs from public streets and rehabilitating them.
Justice Mini Pushkarna emphasized that merely sterilizing and vaccinating stray dogs before releasing them back onto the streets is insufficient, especially given the increasing incidents of dog bites in the city.
The court directed authorities to consult experts and stakeholders to ensure humane treatment and effective management. The policy should address both public health and animal welfare.
The matter is scheduled for the next hearing on August 6, 2025
