Delhi High Court Directs Centre to Finalise OTT Accessibility Guidelines Within Three Months

The Delhi High Court directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to finalise accessibility guidelines for persons with hearing and visual impairments on OTT platforms within three months.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) informed the Court that the draft guidelines are open for public comments until October 22 and that inputs from all stakeholders, including the petitioners, will be considered.

The guidelines aim to ensure that new OTT content includes at least one accessibility feature, such as captions, audio descriptions, or Indian Sign Language.

The Court disposed of the petition based on the MIB’s assurance.
