Delhi High Court Directs LinkedIn to Disclose User Details in Contempt Case

The Delhi High Court has directed LinkedIn to disclose the identity and details of a user account that allegedly posted derogatory remarks against the Indian judiciary.

The order was passed in a suo motu criminal contempt case after a lawyer denied operating the account from which the post originated.

Observing that the post prima facie undermined the majesty of law and administration of justice, the Court also sought a detailed report from the Cyber Cell, Delhi Police, on the origin, IP address, and removal of the post.

The matter is listed for further hearing on March 11.
