The Delhi High Court has ruled that private schools must provide "reasonable accommodation" to ensure children with disabilities can access education meaningfully.
The court stated that accommodations, such as modifications to curriculum or examination patterns, are not a form of "grace" but a legal right under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
The court stated in the case where a school denied admission to a child with muscular dystrophy.
Emphasising inclusive education, the court directed the school to admit the child and make all necessary arrangements, including a special curriculum and accessible infrastructure.
