The Delhi High Court has directed the UPSC to comply with reservation norms under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. in the Combined Medical Services (CMS) exam.
Section 34 mandates that not less than 4% of vacancies in government establishments be reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities, including a minimum of 1% for candidates with blindness or low vision.
The court emphasised that exclusionary practices violate constitutional principles and directed the UPSC to implement inclusive measures.
It also sought directions to DoPT, DoEPWD, and the Union Health Ministry to identify suitable posts and provide reasonable accommodations.
