The Delhi High Court discharged two men accused of criminal contempt for using abusive language in open court, stressing that court language requires unqualified propriety.
Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Shalinder Kaur noted that words insulting the court harm the administration of justice.
The men allegedly abused the Judicial Magistrate First Class during a sentencing hearing and disrupted proceedings.
They apologised sincerely, expressing remorse and promising to maintain decorum in future court appearances. Considering their apology and age, the Court discharged them but warned that any repeat conduct would attract the strictest legal action permissible.
