Educated Wife with Work Experience Cannot Stay Jobless Just for Maintenance : Delhi High Court

The Delhi HC ruled that a well-educated wife with job experience cannot remain unemployed just to claim maintenance from her husband.

A wife requested ₹3,25,000 per month in maintenance from her husband. Despite being highly educated and having prior work experience in Dubai, she remained unemployed since 2007.

WhatsApp chats revealed she intentionally avoided working to claim alimony. The court held that educated and capable spouses should not remain unemployed solely to seek financial support.

The court rejected the wife's request for financial support. The court denied maintenance and held that an educated wife must work, not stay unemployed deliberately.
