The Delhi High Court has imposed a cost of ₹1.25 lakh on advocate Gulshan Babbar for filing five repetitive and misleading petitions against real estate company IREO Residences, seeking a CBI probe into alleged fund diversion.
Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora dismissed the petitions, citing a lack of locus standi as Babbar was neither an allottee nor directly aggrieved.
The Court held that Babbar concealed prior litigation, made false declarations, and abused the judicial process. The court also noted that the ED was actively investigating the matter, with no cause shown for a CBI probe.
The cost must be deposited within two weeks. (Gulshan Babbar, Advocate v. State of Delhi & Others)
