Delhi High Court fines litigant ₹10 lakh for extortion via NGO, refers lawyer's conduct to Bar Council

The Delhi High Court imposed a ₹10 lakh fine on Anil Lodhi, General Secretary of Azad Market Residents Welfare Association (RWA), for misusing the legal process to extort money under the guise of addressing unauthorized constructions.

The Court found that Lodhi had filed multiple petitions through an unregistered NGO, "Green Gold Earth of World," using the same lawyer, Advocate Babu Lal Gupta.

The Court referred Gupta's conduct to the Bar Council of Delhi for inquiry into potential violations of professional ethics.
