Delhi High Court Warns Lawyers Against “Melodrama” in Karisma Kapoor Children’s Inheritance Dispute

The Delhi High Court strongly cautioned lawyers not to make proceedings “melodramatic” in the inheritance battle involving Karisma Kapoor’s children and their stepmother, Priya Sachdev.

In court, Karisma’s counsel, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, claimed that her daughter Samaira’s US university fees had not been paid for two months, per the matrimonial decree.

Priya Kapur’s lawyer denied the allegation, calling it fabricated and suggesting it was driven by media attention. Justice Jyoti Singh responded sharply, saying, “I don’t want to spend more than 30 seconds on this … I don’t want this hearing to become melodramatic … This point should not come again.”

The court has scheduled the next hearing for November 19, 2025, with a view to concluding arguments on the interim injunction.
