The Delhi High Court observed that waterlogging in the national capital reflects the apathy of civic bodies and arises from a lack of coordination among them.
The court noted that stormwater drains managed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and sewer lines under the Delhi Jal Board were not being properly maintained, with each agency shifting blame.
The Court also pointed to confusion among agencies like the Municipal Corporation, Delhi Jal Board, and Public Works Development Authorities due to improper delineation of responsibilities.
The Court directed the Delhi Government to take comprehensive administrative action and place the matter before the Chief Secretary for immediate steps to prevent further civic failure.
