Delhi High Court Hears Challenge to Ban on Online Real Money Games

Bagheera Carrom (OPC) Private Limited challenged the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, in the Delhi High Court, seeking to strike down its ban on online real money games.

The Act, recently passed but not yet notified, criminalises online money games regardless of skill or chance, causing potential prosecution of skill-based platforms like Bagheera’s online carrom game.

The Court noted that the Centre has not yet set up a regulatory authority or framed rules for implementing the Act.

Adjourning the matter for eight weeks, the government cited rising concerns over addiction and suicides linked to real-money games.
