Delhi HC Bars Municipal Corporation of Delhi from Exercising Authority Over Airport Waste Management

The Delhi High Court has ruled that solid waste management at Delhi Airport does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

The decision came in a petition filed by Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) against the inclusion of the airport premises in MCD's notice, which invited tenders for setting up a dry solid waste management facility.

The Court held that under the Operation, Management and Development Agreement, the Airports Authority of India had authorised DIAL to act as the local authority responsible for managing the site, including solid waste management within the airport premises.
