Delhi High Court Lawyers oppose transfer of Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju, urge CJI to review

A group of 160 lawyers of the Delhi High Court, including 66 women lawyers, have written to CJI BR Gavai, opposing the proposed transfer of Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju to the Karnataka High Court.

Highlighting her 30 years of unblemished service at the Bar and her exceptional disposal rate of about 90% of listed cases, the lawyers said it was unfortunate that a judge of such calibre is being “shunted rather than appreciated.”

They argued that frequent judicial transfers undermine Bar confidence and judicial continuity, stressing the need for transparency and a nurturing environment to safeguard judges’ well-being and independence.
