Delhi High Court Orders Patanjali to Take Down Ads Disparaging Dabur’s Chyawanprash

The Delhi High Court has issued an interim order directing Patanjali Ayurved to remove advertisements allegedly disparaging Dabur’s Chyawanprash.

The order was passed in a suit filed by Dabur, objecting to Patanjali’s commercials featuring Swami Ramdev, which questioned the authenticity of other Chyawanprash brands and labelled 40-herb formulations (like Dabur’s) as “ordinary.”

Dabur, which holds over 60% of the market share, argued that the ads mislead consumers, undermine regulatory standards under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and imply health risks from non-Patanjali products.

The company also flagged Patanjali’s repeated violations of advertising norms in the past.
