The Delhi High Court has initiated a special mediation drive to resolve around 170 pending disputes involving cooperative societies.
Recognizing that issues like membership, loan recoveries, and property transfers often linger in court for years, the Bench directed the Registrar of Co-operative Societies to coordinate with the SAMADHAN mediation center.
Forty mediators have been assigned to handle these cases starting in May 2026.
The court noted that these disputes are highly amenable to settlement, and resolving them through mediation will provide quicker relief to members while significantly reducing the court’s long-standing caseload.
